Sposato's history

Founded in early 1986 by Giuseppe Sposato, SPOSATO MASONRY has been family owned and operated ever since. Giuseppe Sposato grew up in Calabria, Italy where he learned the mason trade at an early age. In search of a better life, part of the Sposato family migrated to the United States while others went to Argentina. Guiseppe decided to go to Argentina where the economy was booming and where he already had family living. After years of working as a full time mason in Argentina, Giuseppe met Beatriz and the the couple married two years later. After deciding they wanted to have a family and a better life, Giuseppe started his first Masonry business in Argentina. He was very particular about his work and had very little competition when it came to his professionalism and perfection of his work. After a few years, Giuseppe’s business had earned a great reputation and also became very successful. Guiseppe and Beatriz had a baby on the way, so they bought a lot near his workshop and had a house built. Fernando Sposato was the first born and a few years later Matias Sposato (also know as Mike Sposato) was born. Thanks to the success of his business, Beatriz and Guiseppe were financially established. However they were concerned about sustaining this financial success for the sake of their children's future due to the decline in Agentinian politics and financial inflation. Their concern over these issues resulted in the migration of the family to the United States in 1985, where they hoped to give their children better opportunities. In 1986, a year after coming to the US, Guiseppe and Beatriz bought their first home in Roselle Park, NJ where they raised their children, Fernando and Mike. That same year, Giuseppe founded Sposato Masonry and began work as a subcontractor under another family member's established construction company. As the years went on Sposato Masonry gained a remarkable reputation for their work and at the young age of 14, Mike began working with his father full-time in the summer to learn more about the masonry trade. After his father's passing, Mike went on to take over and run Sposato Masonry.

After a few years of running his fathers business, Mike Sposato became known for his professionalism and impeccable worksmanship. Mike is a certified stone mason, brick layer, and concrete finisher. His customers appreciate his 'no non-sense' approach to projects and he would rather over-deliver than over-promise. Growing up as a mason Mike caught on quick and mastered the masonry trade after a couple of years. From there Mike was young and ambitious looking for something new and exciting so his father encouraged him to go to school. Mike's response was, “dad what can I learn in school that you haven’t already taught me?” His father looked at him and said “what are the elements of concrete? Why does it crack? Why doesn’t it? How come it takes 28 days to fully harden?” These questions that at that time young Mike could not answer. He listened to his father and perused his education in engineering. After spending some time studying to be an engineer, Mike decided he was more of “hands on” person than sitting behind a desk with blueprints. He decided he would no longer pursue becoming an engineer but gained a lot of valuable knowledge on chemical admixtures and structural properties of concrete and other masonry material. Mike then attended the world of concrete show in Las Vegas, Nevada where he saw for the first time in his life Concrete Artisans at work. He was amazed on how they could manipulate concrete to look like what ever they wanted and how much of a realistic “Mother Nature” appearance it had. After that, in the year 2000 Mike started his training in the decorative concrete world. Ever since every winter, Mike flies to different states including Nevada, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and Pennsylvania to further his education and get hands on training on new products and procedures in the market. Mike has earned the title of a Concrete Artisan which is only 1% of the industry due to its difficulty. With all this knowledge, Mike Sposato is successfully able to run his father’s business expanding from just doing traditional masonry work to decorative concrete work as well. As well as going green with the ability to perform long term restorations and repairs to structures that would normally have to be demolished and rebuilt.
